ANNA, TX ( KTVT/CNN) – A construction crew building a new subdivision in Texas unearthed human remains Wednesday morning.
The man who found them said he noticed what appeared to be women’s clothes.
Nearby residents immediately thought of a 23-year-old woman, Christina Morris, who has been missing since 2014.
One man, Enrique Arochi, was convicted of kidnapping Morris.
People remember watching the search for Morris like it was yesterday.
“You know, they searched this whole area a while ago,” said Beau DeHart, a resident of the neighborhood.
Another resident, Lekita McMillan, said there had been a strong police presence in the neighborhood.
“It was a lot of volunteers walking the field over in this area,” McMillan said.
A Plano, TX, police officer testified in court, a cell phone which belonged to Arochi pinged a cell tower in Anna the day after Morris was last seen.
When neighbors saw police back here Wednesday, they couldn’t help but suspect why.
“A sense of sadness for all of us, actually,” said McMillan who knew Morris.
Late Wednesday evening, a Facebook page run by Morris’ family posted “We don’t have updates.”
The family has expressed it hopes the remains are Morris’ so they can move on and finally see Arochi tried for murder.
“It’s terrible to lose a kid, but then they get to get closure,” DeHart said.
